Open letter to WHO

Following the call of the International Alliance against Health Risks in Wildlife Trade, IUBS joined forces with 143 organizations and 54 experts and co-signed a letter addressed to the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB), tasked with drafting and negotiating a pivotal international instrument under the World Health Organization (WHO).

The focus of this initiative is to underscore the significance of prioritizing pathogen spillover prevention and addressing the root causes of zoonotic disease emergence. Central to their plea is the urgent need to tackle drivers such as wildlife trade and markets. The signatories aim to steer discussions towards comprehensive strategies that safeguard global health and mitigate future pandemics.
