General Assembly of IUBS

The General Assembly (GA) is one of the main governing bodies of IUBS. It meets ordinarily every three years and decides about

  • general policy and scientific programmes
  • the admission of ordinary members, such as national or scientific members
  • the admission of associate members to the Union
  • it elects members of the executive committee
  • decides about the nominations committee that works inbetween GAs and recommends delegates that can be elected for the executive committee
  • sets the scales of the annual dues.

 

The year 2019 marks the centenary of International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS). IUBS has had glorious 100 years: full of landmark contributions to research in biology at large and its application of science of biology for agriculture, medicine, conservation of biodiversity and for sustainable development. On this special occasion, IUBS just concluded a special General Assembly with various sessions under the theme “A Century of Unifying Biology” on 30th July, followed by reflections on the history of IUBS
